A Misty Morning in Armoy
The Dark Hedges had recently become a very popular tourist location due to various TV / Film productions. I decided I would like to take some photographs as the trees certainly provide a unique setting.
I noted that the weather forecast was likely to result in fog / mist in the area and one October morning in 2015, I left the house (not quite as early as I had hoped) to make the 1 hour drive to Armoy. The mist was lifting a good 20 minutes before I arrived and I thought I had missed my opportunity for an atmospheric shoot. However, as I stood on the road beneath the unusual tree line, the sun rose further and began to heat up the ground of the adjacent fields. To my delight (or perhaps relief after an hour’s drive) this resulted in fresh drifts of mist passing across the road between the trees. A perfect opportunity.
Mist coupled with sunlight glaring through the branches made for a very enjoyable shoot with some pleasing results.
